Q: Acquire is displaying a PrintDlg: 4099 and then crashes.
A: This occurs when you connect to the Acquire server using Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) when Acquire tries to print a report.

This is because RDC seems to interfere with the printers on the server.

To stop the crash:
Open Remote Desktop Connection
Click 'Options >>'
Click 'Local Resources'
Unclick the 'Printers' option

Q: When starting Acquire the error message "Warning! Unable to connect to IP Address. Could not start the web server." is displayed and then Acquire immediately quits itself.
A: This occurs when there is another web server process running on the machine. This is normally Microsoft IIS when running on a Windows Server 2003 / 2008 machine.

Disable the IIS process/web process and then restart Acquire.
Q: What version of the OMNI ROMs does Acquire need in order to identify the historical reports?

A: You need to have at least the following ROM revisions installed in your flow computer:
20.74.18
21.74.01
22.74.06
23.74.19
24.74.16
26.74.10
27.74.18

It is not supported in the following ROM revisions: 25

Q: Acquire does not run under Windows 2003 Server. It starts for a few seconds and then shortly afterwards quits.

A: There is a security setting that is on by default on Windows 2003 that can stop Acquire running.

Go to the control panel on Windows 2003
Double click on 'System'
On the dialog click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the top 'Settings' button in the 'Performance' section of the page
Click the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab on the new dialog
Click on the 'Add' button
When the file dialog appears navigate to and select the Acquire.exe file where you installed the application. After clicking OK on the list of exceptions the application will probably be listed as '4th Dimension'
Click OK on all of the dialogs and then run the application as normal. From now on it should run normal

Q: The time synchronisation feature is not working in S600.
A: The time fields are not added by default to the S600's modbus map. These fields must be added manually to the modbus map and the configuration must be uploaded back to the S600.
Q: What version of vxworks do I need in my S600 to be compatible with Acquire?
A: Acquire will work with any version of Vxworks v4. If you are running Vxworks version 5 you will require 05.31 or greater.
Q: How do you stop the username / password dialog box from prompting every few minutes?
A: You can disable the password box from reappearing after a period of inactivity. On the server go to the 'Admin' menu and select 'Server Preferences'. Go to the 'Web Server' page and then unclick the 'Users timeout if inactive' checkbox. Alternatively you can extend the timeout period. The default time is 900 seconds (15 minutes). If the timeout is disabled then the user must still login to start with but will have to manually logout.
Q: When I start Acquire I get an error message indicating that mykeyname.key was not a valid key
A: This messages means that you are trying to use the key with the wrong version of the software.

Ensure that you are running the correct version of the software. If you are you may need a new key issuing to you.
Q: How do I access the Acquire web server?
A: To access the web server, make sure Acquire is running and that you have the necessary licence installed to run the web server.

Open your web browser (IE/Firefox/Safari) and then type in URL of the Acquire server eg http://194.205.239.101 and the site should load.

TIP: If you are running the server on the same machine as the web browser, you can enter the local host address http://127.0.0.1
Q: I have setup my Omni 6000 and I'm getting the right values but the HMI is displaying the wrong units. How do I choose the right units?
A: The units are imported from the Omni itself and are based on how the flowcomputer is setup, but it is the ROM set installed in the OMNI that define which unit types are available. The ROM set is normally selected when the flowcomputer is being first added. To change the ROM set used click on the Omni in the Flowcomputer Status window (choose "Flowcomputer Status" from the "Server" menu, it is the window that shows pictures of each flowcomputer connected). This will bring up the Edit Flowcomputers window. Select the "Advanced" tab and select the correct Config based on the ROMs that are installed in the OMNI and then click OK. The units should then automatically update.
Q: I have imported my language but the interface is still in English. How do I get the language to display?
A: The local interface and setup is in English only. Other languages are only displayed when accessing Acquire through a web browser. Every user can be allocated a language, which is automatically selected when they log on. By default the main language is English. Different users can simultaneously log on to the Acquire server using different languages. Languages are set in the users screen by the Administrator.
Q: You can not transfer a config to an S600 over Ethernet if the Acquire is still running.
A: This is because Acquire actively uses the PC Setup connection to get extra information such as reports out of the S600 and only one connection is allowed at one time. To transfer the config either quit Acquire first or transfer the configuration serially.
Q: How does chart scaling on Acquire work and how long it will stay at those scales? eg if Temperature is normally around 50 degC, and we accidentally put Temperature to keypad 500 degC, then return it to 50 degC, how long will the dynamic scaling show 0-500 for?)
A: Acquire automatically calculates the best scale for the y-axis based on the values that it is plotting. If a high value is recorded Acquire will recalculate the scale, but when the high value disappears of the edge of the chart the scale will be recalculated back to normal values.
Q: Acquire does not download today's daily report on an Omni 6000
A: If the base time of the report in the Omni is less than the base time of the report in Acquire then Acquire will count it as yesterday's report. To fix this easily simply set the base time in both Acquire and the Omni to be the same.
Q: How does Acquire determine which flowcomputer is duty and which one is standby?
A: Acquire will, by default, show values for the duty machine. It constantly monitors the Duty/Standby field in both flowcomputers and will automatically switch machine when the Duty/Standby field toggles.
Q: What flowcomputers does Acquire provide Duty/Standby support for?
A: Currently Acquire supports Omni 3000/6000 and Daniel FloBoss S600 for Duty/Standby.
Q: Which files do I need to backup?
A: The only files that you need to backup are the .4DD and .4DR files in the C:\Acquire folder. Alternatively you can backup the whole C:\Acquire folder.
Q: After upgrading Acquire and running it for the first time, it prompts me for a registration number or opens a blank database.
A: Acquire stores all its configuration in a data file called Acquire.4DD. If this file is renamed the installer will recreate another blank Acquire.4DD file which will be used by default by the new version. To use the previous data file, double click on the Acquire.EXE file and immediately after hold the alt key down. This will instruct Acquire to choose a different data file. Select your data file and click open and Acquire will continue to use the renamed data file from then.
